Meet Jassy Bear, a non-speaking bear with autism, who loves playgrounds, swimming, and his toy cars - but most of all, he loves his family. Jassy Bear is learning how to use his special device, his 'talker' (AAC), to express his wants and needs along with other non-verbal communication.

Through this heart-warming and beautifully illustrated story, children (and their grown ups) will learn about autism and how it can look different for each person - which is why it's called Autism Spectrum Disorder or ASD.

Jassy Bear, along with his family and animal friends, take readers on a journey as he searches for acceptance, understanding and inclusion. He tries really hard to learn how to be around others - but sometimes he wonders why they can't learn to be around him. It's a gentle, important message for anyone who lives with autism, knows someone with autism, or simply wants to understand it better.

Written by an Early Years Special Needs Educator and illustrated by a Speech Pathologist, with a shared passion of raising awareness for autism through early intervention and education. This book is a valuable resource for pre-schools, kindergartens, classrooms, therapy centres, and families to help educate children about autism and how they can befriend all the little Jassy Bears of the world.
