Meet the Author
Hi, I'm Pauline - Welcome to Wrigley Worms Publishing! Why ‘Wrigley’ and not ‘Wriggly?’ It’s simple - I was a Wrigley before I married my amazing husband, Mark, so it seemed like the perfect name when my daughter came up with it! We have been married for over 30 years and have two children, Maddy and Oscar. My family, both in Australia and the UK, inspire me daily through their love and support, and have helped me on my publishing journey for which I’m very grateful.
I have worked as an early childhood educator for over 30 years and later combined it in early intervention for children with special needs. I have always believed in supporting not only the child but also the family as a whole - because families of children with special needs deserve the love, support and guidance of someone who truly cares and understands them.
Today, I am privileged to be a support worker for a very special little boy, Jaska, who is six years old. His family are incredible, and I adore them all. Jaska is the inspiration for my book, Jassy Bear, as I have learned so much from our adventures together. In particular I have noticed the lack of awareness for autism, not only from children but many adults too. I wanted to help create awareness and understanding through my book.
I have always dreamed of writing a children’s book but never quite knew how to go about it once I had the story written. I then stumbled across a self-publishing course by Laura Feldman from Little Ivory Haus and it gave me the kick up the backside that I needed to get my book into the hands of the readers.
I wrote Jassy Bear with the hope that it will educate young readers and their grown-ups about autism. I personally feel
that it is still so misunderstood, and I believe that every person living with autism deserves to be understood and to be loved for who they are.
Jassy Bear is a non-speaking bear with autism. Join him on his adventures as he searches for acceptance, understanding and inclusion. I hope you enjoy reading my book as much as I have enjoyed creating it.
For you, Jaska, I love you
xx
